The article is about the Internet firewall being built in Pakistan which is deeply impacted tech workers, freelancers, and all those part of the gig economy. This infrastructure development is highly influenced by China’s own domestic policies, however, Pakistan seems to ignore the drawbacks on its citizens and workers who are already experiencing huge drops in Internet speeds across the nation. This illustration is meant to capture the issue in a simplistic way – it does so by using landscape imagery from Islamabad, adding the crescent-moon motifs to represent the country’s flag and identity, and be explicit in showing Internet blockage by the “404” text in the cente.
